((toms)) One For One Movement - A Pair Of New Shoes Is Given To A Child In Need With Every Pair Purchased - TOMS.com

a good friend wrote to me recently about trying to do more for others outside our immediate circumstances. as mothers of young children [and business owners to boot!], it's hard sometimes to have the time [or energy,] to give to things other than diapers, training, playing with, and loving our little ones. motherhood is a high calling and distinct privilege, nothing to belittle about it... but, we don't want to forget those outside our homes and fortunate lives who have real and basic needs, those whose lives have been stolen from them through human trafficking, or whose well-being is threatened when natural or man-made disasters reach into their lives. the question was posed by my friend, "what can we do to help?" and it got me thinking. i think i have a lot to learn, and more than that, a need for more compassion, so, i'm excited about where this challenge will take me.

it's really amazing how, when you do a little research, you learn that it doesn't take that much money to make a big difference for those in need. as i learn more about the organizations and opportunities to help others, i plan to share them with you here!

i'm so excited because, last week, marks. and i chose to make a difference in the lives of three children by purchasing shoes from a "movement" with a cause:: toms shoes! you can click on the link below to learn how they got started...

as for the shoes themselves, they are incredibly comfortable! i love mine and want to buy more colors already. the packaging and design are simple yet effective in marketing what the company is about. i love it! i couldn't resist having a little photo session with our new family of shoes ;-).

his and hers.

i can see marks. and charlottes. running off on an adventure...

even the lining is fabulous!

don't they look like a fun family?

kiss the bebe.

bebe. catching mommy and daddy kissing.

i couldn't resist the chance to have matching shoes with bebe.!

are you passionate about changing someone's life for good? i would love to hear about it! also, if you have any websites or organizations that you know are making a difference in people's lives, i would love to check them out. please leave their information in the comments below, or, feel free to e-mail me.

I love it LOVE it!!!!! YES! this is encouraging. it is challenging... i have been amazed at the conversations and doors that have opened in just the few days since i sent that email. i am stoked. i think the mom-demographic is a powerful, influential market that really hasn't been tapped yet. i want to help change that. lots of conversations this past week. lots of dreaming and planning and envisioning of something that can help us all move towards engaging in issues, causes, world travesties RIGHT NOW.. in the midst of diapers and soccer and meal planning. we don't have to wait until the "kids are gone" to "really" get involved, to "really" make a difference. we can effect change now... and i am excited to see how you have jumped in already! there are so many opportunities for us to engage and reach out.. stay tuned for more ideas!!!

charlotte's are the CUTEST! so tiny & sweet. :)

i've been wanting to get a pair for the same reason. not because they're all hipster and popular, now, but because of the fact that someone else benefits, too. do they run true to size? i might just have to get some sooner rather than later...

tori, i'm an 11 and their size 11 fits me, though perhaps a tiny bit loosely. if you are a half size that they don't carry, i'd suggest you go down rather than up.

did i tell you that my cousins jon and jangle outfitted their entire wedding party in Toms? also, apparently Toms makes wedges, which the bridesmaids wore. very cool.
